Weans in the Wood for Marchglen

The residents at Marchglen in Fishcross enjoyed panto this week at the MacRobert Centre in Sterling.

Christmas Pantomime at the MacRobert Centre in Stirling to see “Weans in the Wood”, most of the residents got to see this panto as five trips were arranged in teh mini bus.

The panto was not your usual storyline, it was a mixture of Hansel & Gretal, Little Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood all combined into one show with a couple of Star Wars figures thrown in.  Hans No Solo is failing badly at Magic School.  Headmistress Merlina has tried everything but it looks really unlikely he’s going to pass those exams.  And then – horror of horrors – forest hooligan and ASBO-queen Little Red Riding Hood unwittingly robs the pantosphere of all good magic, leaving the wicked Sherffina of Nottingham to run riot with her band of evil minions.

Everyone had a great time and thought it was brilliant, very funny and the residents really got involved with ‘He’s behind you’ and ‘Oh no you didn’t’, sometimes it just cannot be helped! We all tried singing along to some of the songs and although no one was dragged up on stage luckily, we enjoyed the games involved.

Trips like this really lift the residents spirits and help them interact with the local community. The MacRobert Centre is brilliant for our residents as they provide access shows and do a lot for those that may need a little extra help to enjoy a performance from disabled parking and ramps for wheelchairs to Autism friendly shows and familiarisation visits allowing people to help individuals get used to the building before the performance.

Marchglen provides nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 36 people in four small homes within the grounds. Each home provides different types of care and support including physical disabilities, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in both young adults and elderly.
