Trip to the Garden Centre for Coxhill Manor

At Coxhill Manor in Chobham, our residents enjoy a lot of trips out from the home visiting local attractions, shows, galleries to name just a few and as part of our regular outings, we have a fixed booking with Mike and his Bustler Bus scheduled for every Thursday morning.

So last Thursday, Activity Coordinators Julia and Sarah took residents Grace and Janet for a trip to the local garden centre ‘Wyevale ’in Woking.

It’s certainly a team effort behind the scenes…. our nurses ensure medications are taken residents are fit to go… Carers work hard to make sure residents are up and ready, with everything they need for the arrival of the Bustler Bus and the kitchen staff prepare food if required or keep lunches warm for our return if necessary.  So thank you to everyone involved.

Grace and Janet both have communication challenges but that didn’t stop us all having a lovely morning together.  Mike dropped us off at around 10.30am and we started with a wander around the outdoor plant area – enjoying the smells and colours of the flower displays. Grace loved the smell of the lavender.  Janet told us she used to grow vegetables in her garden – there’s a thought for a meaningful activity for Janet!

We made our way to the café where we enjoyed hot coffee together, before going to explore the indoor aquarium shop and look at the tropical fish and the mesmerising aquariums. The bright decorations within the tanks (or ‘aquascaping’ as we learnt!) are so attractive and appealing, and enhance the soothing effects that aquariums are known for. They certainly didn’t fail to grab Janet and Grace’s attention.

After a great morning out, we boarded the bus and headed back at 12 noon for lunch at Coxhill Manor – an enjoyable morning had by all!

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
