PAT dog visits Moorlands

Misty is our new PAT dog and has been visiting Moorlands Nursing Home in Lightwater for the last 2 – 3 months.

Pets as therapy (PAT) is a charity with volunteers who work with their own pets, to bring joy, comfort and companionship to many individuals who appreciate being able to touch and stroke a friendly animal. The documented benefits of interaction with pets are mental, emotional and even physical.

The level of joy she brings to our residents can’t be measured but it is noticeable how an anxious or troubled resident can become calm and peaceful when Misty comes along.

She puts smiles on a lot of faces and is a very welcome visitor at Moorlands, and tends to be a talking point for some time after.

At Moorlands we provide residential and nursing care for up to 40 elderly residents in a bright and homely environment.

If you would like to find out more about our events and life at Moorlands or to arrange a visit, please contact us on 0808 223 5526 or email moorlands@CaringHomes.org.
