Oaken Holt’s Choral Society

At Oaken Holt care home in Farmoor, we decided it was time to create a choir and have our very own Choral Society here at our home after so many residents and team members could often be heard singing.

The choir meets up once or twice a week and sing songs of yesteryear. Songs such as ‘Sound of Music’ and ‘Magic Moments’ are a few of their favourites. The sessions are enjoyed by many and it gives everyone a chance to hear songs that they may have forgotten or not heard in a while.

Our residents have said how many of the songs bring back wonderful memories and after the sessions  we often share our stories and recollections. It is an excellent opportunity as well for our team members to interact with the residents and a good time is had by all.

Our residents really look forward to our weekly Choral Society sessions and are always thinking of and suggesting different songs to sing along to. New members are always welcome to join in too.

Oaken Holt is set in a magnificent country estate located in the peaceful village of Farmoor offering the perfect blend of tranquillity and accessibility with Oaken Holt providing residential and nursing care of the very highest standard for up to 55 elderly residents. Wytham House, our specialist dementia home is also located within the grounds of Oaken Holt estate.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
