Jade Hobbs, Senior Care Assistant at East Hill House in Hampshire, was recently named one of the top ten carers in the UK at the World Skills UK final, capping a year of fantastic achievements.
This year’s World Skills UK Competition for Carers was held at the NEC in November. Jade came fourth overall in the competition and received a Highly Commended Award.
East Hill House Manager, Clare Hall told us:
‘Jade is a fantastic employee who always puts her residents first. She is such a loving and caring person and this clearly came across for her to reach the World Skills final. She goes out of her way to make sure that every resident at East Hill House feels special and we are all so proud of her.’
It has been a busy few months for Jade, recently completing her NVQ3 in Health and Social Care and proudly becoming the East Hill House ‘Dignity Champion.’
The Caring Homes Group also runs a ‘Dementia Best Practice’ Scheme whereby one person represents each home to meet and discuss policies and procedures with regard to dementia residents and then put those policies into practice. This is a subject that Jade is very passionate about and she put herself forward for the scheme, representing East Hill House and all of the residents with great enthusiasm.
East Hill House provides residential and specialist dementia care for up to 35 elderly people in a unique setting. In addition to the main home there are seven cottages and two apartments, all arranged around a central lawn, creating a wonderful Village Green location.
Residents of the cottages and apartments, while maintaining a more independent lifestyle, are also able to make use of the many communal facilities at East Hill House as and when needed. These include a wide range of communal activities, a hairdressing suite and dining of a standard normally associated with the finest hotels.
