‘Once Upon a Time’ at Coxhill Manor

Coxhill Manor officially finished off our Christmas and New Year celebrations in style this week with a trip to the Pantomime ‘Snow White’  at Woking’s New Victoria Theatre.

Residents, Doug and Margaret Voller, Doris Spencer and Karen Lonsdale were accompanied by Activity Coordinators Jo and Sarah, and Karen’s sister Rosalind.  It was an extra special day for Karen as it was Rosalind’s birthday, so she also got to spend the day with her sister too. It was also lovely for Doug and Margaret to be going to the theatre together as a couple, something they used to enjoy together on a regular basis before moving into Coxhill Manor.

We travelled with Bustler Buses and arrived at the theatre in plenty of time for the 2pm performance.  We were seated in the stalls where we had a fabulous view of the stage.

The panto was absolutely fantastic and we all had so many laugh out loud moments with spellbinding choreography and costumes.  The star of the show had to be Warwick Davis.  We all thoroughly enjoyed getting into the panto spirit…”Oh yes we did” and there was lots of audience participation from Coxhill!

The excitement may have got a bit much for Doris as she managed to nod off for five minutes towards the end of the first half of the panto. A coffee during the break soon perked her back up, and she wasn’t short of a joke or two about falling asleep at the panto.  We did have a giggle.

The good old yellow Bustler Bus picked us back up at 5pm and we were back home at Coxhill Manor just in time for our evening meal.  Perfect timing.  A jolly good day had by all.

A special thank you always to Bustler Buses, they never let us down. They are always on time and they are always friendly and super helpful – nothing is ever a problem.  At Coxhill Manor we really do appreciate their invaluable service.   Without them we wouldn’t be able to get out into the community as much as we do.
