Community supports successful summer fayre at Claydon House

Lewes based care home Claydon House opened its doors to the community once more this week as they held their popular annual summer fayre.

Deputy Mayor Ruth O’Keefe was thrilled to cut her first ribbon and officially open the event; Ruth is a great supporter of the home and kindly donated some specialist jigsaw puzzles, which were received by Dementia Unit Manager Theresa Goldsmith on behalf of Claydon House.

Many members of the local community joined residents and staff at the Victorian residence to raise money for the home’s specialist dementia ‘Admiralty Unit.’

Activities included face painting, a jumble stall, ‘guess the weight of the puppy’ and a bouncy castle and local jazz musician Chris Steynor kept everyone entertained with live music on the day.

Claydon House Manager, Katie Brewster told us:

‘Everyone has had a great time today! It is always wonderful when the community comes together to support these events – it is important to our residents that they remain an active part of the wider community.

I would like to thank all of our staff for their hard work in organising the day, everyone who attended including Ruth O’Keefe, along with all the local businesses who donated some fantastic raffle prizes.

In total we raised over £250, which will provide the Admiralty Unity with a much-needed digital stage piano that can be used by residents and entertainers alike.’

Located on a quiet residential crescent in the heart of Lewes, Claydon House provides care and nursing support for up to 47 people. The home is run by family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
