Mill House celebrate National Care Home Open day with a Zumba Party

Mill House residents all had great fun with our Zumba Party to celebrate National Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June.

Led by Instructor Ibby, who used to work at Mill House four years ago as a receptionist and left to become a Zumba and Pilates instructor. She was delighted to come back, see old friends and make new ones and offer an activity for our residents so a party was organised to celebrate National Care Home Open Day for everyone to join in.

Our team and residents enjoyed half an hour of latin music and dancing.  We saw some residents engaging, waving hands, clapping, swaying to the music and a couple even had a dance with some assistance. It was all about enjoying good fun, laughter and to lift the mood and we achieved it!

We also had some equipment like large balloons and voile fabric to play with to the rhythm of the music. Residents commented positively on the type of music and asked Ibby to come back again soon. Hopefully she will be back very soon to do more music and movement and chair exercise classes in the future.

Dominika Soboczynska, Activity Coordinator said:

“Zumba is a great way of exercising for our residents as it incorporates gentle dance and fitness routines to the rhythm, but as it is performed at a lower intensity, it helps strengthen and loosens muscles and also offers chair exercises for those with more limited mobility so everyone can join in.”
