Parris Lawn Channels Paris Style At Their Fabulous Fashion Show
The arrival of spring prompted thoughts of a wardrobe refresh, so the Paris Lawn team joined forces with Catherine and Keith from JJ Fashions to create an event worthy of Paris itself.
A Flash of Fashion Inspiration
The idea came about after a group of residents who’d been watching a fashion show on television suggested that Parris Lawn could host its own – the perfect way to introduce new styles and colours to residents who wanted to try a fresh look and a fun event for everyone. Always keen to get fully involved, some of the residents even volunteered to take to the catwalk as models!
With the seed well and truly sewn, the Parris Lawn team contacted JJ Fashions. Run by husband and wife team, Catherine and Keith, the company holds local ‘Pop Up Shop’ events to showcase clothing and accessories curated from several different brands, which are selected to suit the audience and are also available to purchase online. A partnership was struck, and planning for Parris Lawn’s first fashion show began.
Residents and Carers Model New Season Styles with Flair
The big day arrived and residents Heather and Pam, already signed up to model, were joined by carers Leah and Dana. Family members and neighbours took their seats alongside residents who flanked the catwalk, and head housekeeper Sharon, MC for the event, introduced the show. Described as a ‘Spring/Summer collection, full of colour and light’ the designs were split into sections, which also meant several outfit changes for the extremely professional models.
Sharon carried the models beautifully with her descriptions of each outfit. This came so naturally we think she may have a future in fashion or even public speaking! Meanwhile, the models were getting into their stride, strutting their stuff to background music that was specially chosen for their star turns. Heather owned ‘Rockin’ Robin’ and ‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’ became one of Pam’s signature tunes.
During the intermission, the wonderful catering team surprised guests with canapés, a mini buffet and a glass of something crisp. JJ Fashions’ Keith said, “This is the first time we have been catered for in such a lovely fashion and the orders for our clothes are already flying in!”
A Catwalk Triumph for Parris Lawn
After the show - which featured beautiful floral dresses and skirts, complementing shirts and cardigans and a range of tops and trousers - residents had the chance to visit JJ Fashions Pop Up Shop in Parris Lawn’s beautiful lounge. They were also able to chat to Catherine and Keith, who were delighted with the event and with the response from residents and the team.
Jesse, Parris Lawn’s Customer Relations Manager, was also impressed and commented, “The home’s very own Heather, Pam, Leah and Dana owned the catwalk and blew everyone away! Making it fun was always the plan and they really brought the show to life”.
Parris Lawn may not be the Champs-Elysees, but they certainly know how to keep it classy, and the last word definitely belongs to Pam who has now decided that fashion shows should be regular events. “I love the glitz and glam”, Pam said. “I felt in my element, and I can’t wait to do it again!”
