There’s more Oomph! at Oaken Holt

At Oaken Holt care home in Farmoor, our residents are now enjoying more Oomph! Sessions as part of our varied activity schedule at our home.

Our Activities coordinators Debra and Alysson recently underwent the Oomph training in April to be able to run these sessions and which are designed to help us deliver additional everyday mental stimulation, regular, fun physical activity and encourage new experiences & connections for those in our care.

Following the success of our first few sessions, we now hold several Oomph classes per week in our newly refurbished lounge for those of our residents who wish to join in.  The classes range from gentle exercise consisting of very simple hand movements with pom pom shakes and scarf stretches to music, alternating with leg movements. Accompanied with descriptive talk to engage and take our residents on a journey for example:  to the seaside or other themes such as playing tennis, sewing and dusting with the movement.

Our residents thoroughly enjoy these sessions and as they are so interactive and allow great engagement with our Coordinators and each other, they are a very social and fun way to spend time together whilst also benefiting from the mental and physical stimulation it offers.

Oaken Holt is a stunning Victorian house set within 23 acres of beautiful gardens and parklands in the heart of rural Oxfordshire offering residential and nursing care of the very highest standard.

If you would like to join us, or to arrange a tour of Oaken Holt, please RSVP on 01865 865252 or
