Scrabble Celebration at St Peter Care Centre

Constable John Refault and Deputy Moore joined the residents and staff of L’Hermitage Care Centre for a very entertaining game of Giant Scrabble this week as a celebration of some fantastic fundraising by the St Peter home.

Over the Christmas period, the staff, residents and relatives of L’Hermitage Care Centre went all out to raise money for the local Alzheimer’s Society, which works closely with the home’s Beaumont Villa Dementia Unit. A Christmas quiz book (designed and compiled by the in-house activities team) went on sale, as well as holding a giant raffle with prizes donated by the home’s suppliers. In total, over £260 was raised for the worthwhile cause.

This week, to celebrate the feat, residents enjoyed a game of giant scrabble and morning coffee with Constable Refault and Deputy Moore from the parish of St Peters and representatives of the Jersey Alzheimer’s Society.

Constable John Refault and Jennifer Godfray were the winning team, storming into the lead with a score of 183, over 25 points ahead of the team in 2nd place. A presentation of the money raised was then made by L’Hermitage Manager, David Taylor.

During their visit, Constable Refault and Deputy Moore had the opportunity to chat with the Home Manager and staff, who took them through the range of therapeutic activities on offer at the purpose-built care centre.

David Taylor, L’Hermitage Care Centre Manager told us:

‘Everyone at L’Hermitage was very proud to welcome our visitors to the home and show off our fantastic care facilities. I want to say a big thank you to Constable Refault and Deuty Moore on behalf of the residents and staff for making this such an enjoyable day.

It was lovely for us all to have the chance to meet them and tell them about the events we run with the local community; they were very interested in the range of activities that we offer our residents.’

Located in a prestigious Retirement Village, L’Hermitage is a purpose-built Care Centre providing residential and nursing care for up to 41 elderly ladies and gentlemen. The home is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group. Mother and son team Helena and Paul Jeffery founded Caring Homes in 1994 and the Group has grown to become one of the leading independent care providers in the UK.
