Puppy power at Abbeycrest

Residents of Abbeycrest in Sonning Common welcomed regular visitor’s Tags and Charlie, two little Jack Russells for their monthly visit.

It was a lovely visit for everyone on the day, especially for the residents as they have got to know both Tags and Charlie very well. Some residents used to have their own pets and often comment on their memories and how great it is for them to reconnect with pets.

Our residents are not the only ones who have the date firmly set in their diary; Jaru Stanley one of the Activity organisers at Abbeycrest helps coordinate this activity and is another keen dog lover.

Marilyn Kimayong, Home Manager said “We are very aware of both the mental and physical benefits an animal can have on the wellbeing of our residents. The visits by Tags and Charlie are extremely beneficial and have a very positive impact upon the quality of life at our home, which is what we strive for.

Thousands of people of all ages benefit every week from the visits provided by volunteers and their pets, who bring joy, comfort and companionship to many individuals who appreciate being able to touch and stroke a friendly animal. We’re already looking forward to their next visit!”
