Poppy Party at Oaken Holt

A colourful ‘Poppy Party’ was held at Oaken Holt care home this week in honour of the centenary anniversary of the First World War.

Oaken Holt Care Home, part of the Caring Homes Group, arranged the party so that residents could take time to remember when Britain entered into one of its costliest conflicts in history. Everyone who lives or works at the Eynsham Road home paid tribute to those who fought in The Great War.

The residents made cookies, flags and poppies for the party and the symbolic red flower featured on a timeline wall – marking the most significant events during the conflict.
Oaken Holt’s Manager, Sherrie Hume said:

‘Although the residents had a lot fun preparing for the Poppy Party, it gave us all time to have some quiet reflection and remember those who fought for us during the First World War.

It was important for everyone at Oaken Holt to be able to mark such important historic events.’

Set within 23 acres of gardens and parklands just ten minutes drive from Oxford, Oaken Holt provides residential and nursing care for up to 55 elderly ladies and gentlemen.
