Party for Parkinson’s a success at Coxhill Manor

The staff and residents of Coxhill Manor threw the doors open to the community once more this week as they hosted a colourful ‘Party for Parkinson’s’.

The party was held as part of the Caring Homes ‘Charitable Partnership’ initiative for 2013/14, whereby each of the 56 care homes across the group are working together to raise thousands of pounds for their two chosen charities, Parkinson’s UK and Diabetes UK.

Evphi Kalkantera, Coxhill’s visiting Parkinson’s Nurse, delivered an interesting and informative session on the disease. Evphi is a regular visitor to Coxhill Manor and lends both advice and support as the home caters for an increasing number of residents with Parkinson’s and similar conditions. The session was followed by coffee, tea, cakes and a raffle.

Coxhill Manor Manager, Alan Horler told us more about the event:

‘We were thrilled with the turn out today, it is always wonderful when members of the local community join us for these events and we managed to raise over £250 to support Parkinson’s UK.
I would like to thank all of the Coxhill Manor staff for their hard work in putting the event on and the local community for supporting us and giving so generously for these worthwhile causes.’

Located on the outskirts of Chobham, Coxhill Manor provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 60 elderly people.
