Mount Pleasant residents take a tour of Toons

A group of Mount Pleasant residents made the short trip to Swadlincote this week to visit a local institution, Toons Furnishers Shop.

They spent the morning looking at the dozens of different styles of sofas and beds, with one of the residents even treating themselves to a new bed, before they relaxed with refreshments in the onsite café.

The residents enjoyed looking around the famous local store, which started back in 1969 when Bill Toon and his wife launched the business from the back of a Ford Anglia loaded with carpet samples and rugs.

Located on the edge of Burton-on-Trent, Mount Pleasant is a modern care home providing residential and specialist dementia care for up to 50 elderly people.
