More diamond celebrations at Cedar House
Posted on Tuesday 24th July
Staff and residents at Cedar House in Yelverton, Norfolk, joined Richard and Jean Holding in celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary this week.
The following is an exert taken from a web page set up by their family to celebrate the occasion:
Married on 12th July 1952 at St. Barnabas Church, Southfields, in more recent years the Holdings lived in Loddon. Both stroke patients, with limited movement and verbal communication skills; they have developed a language of their own and spend their days together in the truly caring environment of Cedar House.
To mark the occasion of their 60th Wedding Anniversary, staff at Cedar House made them a gift of a ‘Then and Now’ engraved picture frame, decorated their alcove in the conservatory and most magnificently the home’s chef Clarissa prepared a perfect replica of Richard and Jean’s wedding cake (pictured)
The occasion was celebrated on 22nd July with an outing to Southwold, Suffolk. In transport, bedecked with ribbons and balloons, Chris accompanied Richard and Jean for the day while ten family members were able to join the party for virtually the first sunny day of summer 2012.
Following the special day, Richard and Jean’s family sent the following letter the Debra Read, Cedar House Manager:
We would like to express our sincere thanks and deep appreciation of the time and effort that everyone put into making Richard and Jean’s diamond anniversary celebrations so very special and memorable – not just for Richard and Jean but also for the extended family as well!
It was very touching to see their anniversary gift from the staff and special thanks to Clarissa for making a splendid replica of the original wedding cake – with a fine eye for the detail of the original and to Chris for giving up his day off and accompanying us to Southwold for what was a really special day.
Very best regards,
David and Nikki
Congratulations to Richard and Jean from everyone at the Caring Homes Group.
