Marchglen strike out with F.V.D.S

Residents from Marchglen in Alloa, enjoyed a trip to Falkirk for Indoor Bowls this week, and they won their game!

The trip was made possible by F.V.D.S (Forth Valley Disability Sports) Indoor Bowls. Forth Valley Disability Sport is a charity organisation based in Stirling, Scotland, covering the three local authorities in the Forth Valley area – Stirling Council, Falkirk Council and Clackmannanshire Council.  They also work with various sports organisations in the area and have a successful partnership with Active Stirling.

F.V.D.S arrange events for disabled people in the forth valley area from schools, care homes and day centres. They enable members to get together and participate in activities that may otherwise be a struggle for them due to their disability. The sports are adapted to a persons specific requirements to make it possible for them to take part successfully.

The residents at Marchglen love these events, especially Boccia.  The events usually take place at Grangemouth Sports Complex and are organised by a gentleman called Graeme, it is run through the local councils.

Marchglen provides nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 36 people in four small homes within the grounds. Each home provides different types of care and support including physical disabilities, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in both young adults and elderly.
