Hengie celebrates her 100th at Kippington

Kippington Nursing Home in Sevenoaks celebrated a new residents 100th birthday this week.

On the last day of October, Hengie celebrated her 100th Birthday. The Queen’s Card of congratulation arrived in the expected punctual manner, just before several friends and relatives arrived for a private party that had been arranged for them upon request with assistance from Chef Christine and the Housekeeping Staff in the first floor lounge.

However, we could not allow Hengie to go before our special guest had played Happy Birthday for her – handsome young Saxophonist and Crooner Michael Lack played the tune on the saxophone whilst everyone sang the song. Hengie then enjoyed the entertainer’s first song before joining her family and friends.

Michael continued the celebrations with the rest of the residents, with an hour of swing and jazz songs made popular by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Michael Buble.

This was a special extra entertainment especially laid on for Hengie’s centenary, but she had also enjoyed entertainment a few days earlier, when on 25th October UNIQUE also wished her a happy forthcoming birthday during their own act.

Hengie said “I will never forget the wonderful time I’ve had today.”

Kippington provides residential and nursing care in a beautiful converted Victorian building for up to 51 elderly people.
