Heffle Court Visit a Garden Centre

Residents & staff at Heffle Court recently enjoyed an afternoon visit to Hillers Garden centre in Hailsham.

They were all delighted with the wide variety of plants on display, which sparked off lots of discussion and enthusiastic plans were made for their own home grown fruit & vegetable projects in their own garden.  A day out would not be complete without refreshment and we all finished off the visit with homemade cream cake & hot chocolate.

Samantha Keylock, Activity Coordinator said

“We actively encourage our residents to get involved in the garden in some shape or form, whether it’s helping plan or actually planting, it’s a fantastic way for them to look after their health and to stay busy and motivated, even for those with limited mobility or fitness. They enjoy getting outdoors and it’s a great way to get regular low impact exercise and of course have fun. We also get to reap the benefits and they enjoy eating their own home grown produce. We’re all looking forward to harvest time.”

We are proud of our garden and smallholding, Willow Farm, at Heffle Court as it offers an area for reflection, relaxation, therapy, and often quite simply a space where our residents can spend time together along with their family, friends and carers in a safe and protective environment.
