‘The Crafters’ visit Home of Compassion

Residents and the care team at Home of Compassion have been getting creative during regular craft sessions with ‘The Crafters’ of Thames Ditton. The group of 20 ladies have been visiting the home on a weekly basis from 10am until 12pm to take part in various crafting activities such as knitting, crochet and sowing, and were more than happy to show the residents what they were doing. Some of the residents even had a go themselves with gifted materials from the group.

Home Manager Avril Jones said “Crafting is a fun and easy activity for our residents to take part in and re-discover their creative spark. We were delighted to host ‘The Crafters’ ladies at our home and the residents really enjoyed the morning with them.

It is great to see the residents getting their creative juices flowing and being active. Interests such as crafting help engage the mind, stimulate brain cells, and provide interaction and communication with visitors others in the home. This further helps maintain eye and hand coordination and encourage stimulation of the brain that offer pleasure to those engaging in pleasant and enjoyable activities.”
