Coxhill Manor attend St Lawrence Church Carol Service

Coxhill Manor activity coordinators Sandra and Sarah accompanied residents Roy Honnor, Ken Dimmick, Lillian Cook, Lillian Mayo, Joy Perkins and Billie Watson to the Carol Service at the local church, St Lawrence on December 6th at 2pm.

The Carol Service was specifically for older members of the local community and we were kindly invited to stay for tea in the church hall afterwards.

The residents all get on very well and share common interests and humour, so we knew we were going to have a lovely afternoon, despite the freezing temperatures.  We wrapped up warm and took extra blankets with us just in case.

Reverend Chris Bedford was waiting to greet us on our arrival and helped us off the bus into the church.  He always looks after us so well – we can’t thank him enough.

The church soon became packed and Joy saw a couple of old friends too which made her day.   The service was beautiful and our residents joined in with every carol –  the carol sheets were redundant  as they knew the words off by heart.   Moreover, the opportunity to worship and pray in a church setting  meant a lot to our residents. Reverend Chris comes into Coxhill Manor to give communion services each month, and these are much appreciated and valued by our residents.   But it is also important for some residents to go the church on occasion, as it has played a big part in many of their lives and still does.

After the Carol Service we all made our way to the adjoining church hall and enjoyed the lovely afternoon tea and the company and kindness of the large church family. Not to mention the Christmas crackers.

We headed home to Coxhill Manor at 4pm just as it was getting dark, so we got to see the beautiful Christmas lights in Chobham too which was a real delight four all and got us all in the festive spirit.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
