Audrey’s Celebrations at Bradbury House

Bradbury House in Braintree this week helped Audrey celebrate her birthday in style!

Audrey celebrated her big day with family and friends around her and our beloved Night Al as entertainment. The other Bradbury House residents also thoroughly enjoyed Night Al too, with a couple of residents getting up and having a little dance, whilst others tapped along at their chairs. Everyone sung-along to the songs that were played .

Bringing music into Bradbury House really brings a happy atmosphere with it, the residents always sing along remembering the words of the songs that they knew when they were younger.

Music plays an important role in our everyday lives and can be exciting, calming, happy or sad, stirring memories helping us to express feelings and to communicate with others. The power of music, especially singing, to unlock memories and kickstart the grey matter is an increasingly key feature of care. It really lifts the mood of the residents, providing reminiscence of their younger years.

After the party everyone enjoyed a buffet tea and Audrey blew out the candles on her birthday cake which was hand-made by our cook Charlotte Randall.

Bradbury House provides residential care in a 17th Century converted building for up to 20 elderly people.
