A Royal Party at Tall Trees

On the historic day of Saturday 19th May 2018, at Tall Trees care home in Chipping Norton, we were delighted to open our doors as the residents welcomed their families and friends to join us for a Royal Wedding themed Afternoon Tea Party to celebrate the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

We started off the day with our residents and their families gathered in the lounge, which had been decorated with bunting and banners, taking selfies with the life size cut outs of the Queen, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, they were then given the photos to take home as a souvenir for the day.

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle became husband and wife in the moving ceremony at Windsor Castle, we all watched an emotional looking prince and his smiling bride exchange vows and rings before the Queen and 600 guests at St. George’s Chapel. Thousands of members of the public turned out in bright sunshine to see them driven around Windsor in a horse-drawn carriage.

There were animated conversations in the lead up to the event itself with recollections of past royal events, their own weddings and celebrations and speculation on what would happen, who they would see on the guest list and of course, what would the dress look like.

There were even a few surprises as the event as it involved less traditional elements such as a gospel choir and a preacher to combine Meghans American background with the Royals, which sparked off more debate and mixed feelings.
