A boat trip for Coxhill

Residents and the care team at Coxhill Manor care home in Woking picked a glorious day in July for our boat trip along the River Wey.

We set off from Dapdhune Wharf in Guildford, and enjoyed a beautiful morning on the water. Despite the heat of the hot summer sun we enjoyed the cooling breeze from the water and the views of the beautiful Surrey countryside from the luxury of our specially adapted canal boat (which even had a lift to help with  easy wheelchair access.)

Sheila and Joyce said they loved the peace and quiet of the canal, far away from noisy traffic and hustle and bustle.  We moored briefly and Thomas got out to stretch his legs and look at the scenery. Doug and Harold enjoyed the commentary provided by our skipper, Geoff. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the canal and it was fascinating to learn how busy that particular stretch had once been, taking goods up and down to London.

The slow pace of the boat was very relaxing and it was lovely seeing the swans, ducks and geese joining us on the water.  As it was so hot Thomas said he was tempted to have a swim, but Geoff told him that it created too much paperwork and talked him out of it…!

Everyone agreed that it had been a lovely day out and we are all keen to go back on the water again soon!  Huge thanks to the wonderful staff at Swingbridge Boat Trips for looking after us so well.

At Coxhill Manor care home in Woking we provide residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 58 residents.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
