FAQs

What types of care do you offer at Tarring Manor?

Tarring Manor provides high-quality residential care, dementia care and short-term respite care. Our compassionate team is trained to support older individuals with varying needs, including those living with dementia. We do not currently offer nursing care.

How are care plans developed for new residents?

We conduct comprehensive assessments involving the resident, their family and healthcare professionals to create personalised care plans that address medical, emotional and social needs.

Can residents continue with their current GP after moving in?

Where possible, residents can retain their existing GP. Alternatively, we can facilitate registration with a local GP to ensure continuity of care.

What measures are in place for medication management?

Our trained care team manages all aspects of medication administration, including ordering, storage and monitoring, to ensure safety and compliance.

How do you handle medical emergencies?

Our team is trained to respond promptly to medical emergencies, with protocols in place for immediate intervention and coordination with emergency services.

What is the process for transitioning a loved one into Tarring Manor Care Home?

Our team assists with every step, from initial assessments to personalised care planning, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition for new residents.

How much do care homes cost?

The cost of a care home stay can vary and depends on factors such as the type of support needed and the location of the care home.

For a more accurate idea of how much it costs to stay at Tarring Manor Care Home, please visit our Choosing and Funding Care page or enquire directly with us.

What influences the cost of care?

Several factors can influence the cost of care, including:

  • Whether you are receiving permanent or temporary care
  • The location of the care home
  • Individual care home fees
  • The type of care you receive, such as residential or dementia care
Why do care home fees vary based on duration?

A premium is added to the cost of respite care or a short stay because these residents enjoy all the benefits offered to permanent residents.

How do you organise funding for a care home stay?

To organise funding, the first step is for your local authority to assess your care needs. They will create a report about your needs and the type of care that would best suit you.

Once the type of care needed is determined, an income assessment will be carried out. This considers various aspects of your income, such as work, assets and pensions. This will determine if you are eligible for help from your local authority or other funding options.

Do you have to sell your house to pay for care?

If you have a partner who still lives in your home, then your home won’t be included in the means test and you won’t have to sell it. However, if you live alone in the property, it will be considered as part of your total capital assets, which may affect your eligibility for support.

While many people who move into full-time residential care do sell their homes, it’s important to consider all options (for example, renting out your home) and to speak to an independent financial advisor.

What facilities and amenities are available to residents?

Tarring Manor Care Home features comfortable living spaces, beautifully landscaped gardens, activity rooms, dining areas, a bistro café and hair salons, creating a homely environment that promotes well-being.

How do you support the emotional well-being of residents?

Are visitors allowed, and what are the visiting hours?

Yes, we encourage family visits and offer flexible visiting hours, understanding the importance of maintaining personal connections.

Do you offer trial stays or respite care?

Yes, we provide short-term respite care and trial stays, allowing individuals to experience our services before making a long-term commitment.

How are dietary needs and preferences managed?

Our in-house chefs prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and preferences, ensuring enjoyable dining experiences.

What activities and social programs are available for residents?

We offer a diverse range of activities, including arts and crafts, exercise classes and outings, designed to engage residents and enhance their quality of life.

How do you ensure the safety and security of residents?

Our home is equipped with modern safety features, and our staff are trained in safeguarding protocols to provide a secure environment for all residents.

Are there opportunities for family involvement in care planning?

Absolutely, we value family input and encourage involvement in care planning to ensure we meet the resident's needs and preferences effectively.

How do you handle concerns or complaints from residents or families?

We have a transparent complaints procedure and encourage open communication to address any concerns promptly and effectively.

Can residents personalise their rooms?

Yes, we encourage residents to bring personal belongings to make their rooms feel like home, promoting comfort and familiarity.

How do you support residents' cultural and religious needs?

We respect and accommodate diverse cultural and religious practices, ensuring residents can observe traditions and beliefs important to them.

What is your policy on pets?

How do you manage the risk of infections within the home?

We adhere to strict infection control protocols, including regular team training and comprehensive cleaning procedures, to maintain a safe environment.
