Spring, St George Style

Early in April, the local church came to the home for a special Easter service as part of the monthly communion. On the same day, the team was pleased to welcome back Sharon Stanton, who returned to St George after giving birth to a baby boy on Christmas Day.

Later in the month, the residents were joined by 30 children from local Summerhill Primary School, who performed some uplifting show songs including ‘Danny Boy’ and ‘New York.’ The children had practiced for many months in preparation for the performance and the residents were thrilled with the results. Plans are already being made for a second visit.

Finally, everyone at the purpose-built home had a fantastically floral day in aid of Red Nose Day. The colourfully comic day saw staff wearing red for the day and Sue, a professional flower arranger, showed everyone how to make floral buttonholes out of carnations and roses. Staff and residents then had a go themselves, with everyone wearing their creations with pride. The day raised £30 for the worthy cause and provided plenty more in the way of fun.

St George Care Centre is a modern, purpose-built home near St George Park in Bristol. The home provides residential and specialist nursing care for up to 68 elderly people. St George is also able to provide care fro up to five people below the age of 50.
