Kippington Trip to Orpington

There was a shopping trip to Orpington with lunch for the residents from Kippington Nursing Home in Sevenoaks this week.

Some residents and members of the care team at Kippington took the Caring Homes minibus out for the day. The driver, Tony, parked nice and close to the high street so that we had plenty of time to wander the shops before lunch.

When the residents go shopping they like a general browse in the good variety of shops that Orpington offers, but charity shops and the covered areas of the Walnuts shopping center are particularly popular especially the pound shop!

One resident had particular items in mind, which necessitated a visit to Card Factory.

Once all purchases had been made and shops browsed, it was off to the popular family-run but otherwise nameless ‘Café’ situated opposite Thornburrows in the high street. We always head here for some really good home cooked food and delicious huge mugs of tea, extremely generous portions and all served quickly and at an excellent price.

With satisfied stomachs it is time to head home, but not before we have had a look around the Tesco superstore behind which the minibus is parked, with all the Halloween decorations on display.

Once we arrived back home, we sorted through the purchases everyone had made and discussed the pleasant day we had. Days out like this are great for our residents as it provides a change of scenery and gets them out into the community.

Kippington provides residential and nursing care in a beautiful converted Victorian building for up to 51 elderly people.
