YMCA grateful for Mount Pleasant Harvest Festival donations

Mount Pleasant care home in Winshill held a Harvest Festival service recently for both residents and their families, to help send food boxes to the local YMCA.

Residents, staff and family members kindly donated numerous food items, in particular resident Penny Manning’s daughter, who generously donated two arrangements of fruit and vegetables.

Cannon Geoffrey Willett set the tone with an impromptu performance of “All Things Bright and Beautiful” on the electric organ in the home, which was a hit with everyone present.

Holy Communion followed the performance and the produce donated was gathered up ready to pass onto the local YMCA. Everything given was gratefully received as there is currently a big demand for food boxes for the public.

Manager Anne-Marie Robinson told us:

‘Everyone really enjoyed the day and people were very generous with their donations. We’ve been collecting food donations for a number of weeks now and it can all be presented to YMCA. We see it as a very worthwhile local charity and we collect for them every year.’

Located on the edge of Staffordshire’s Burton-on-Trent and enjoying beautiful views of the National Forest and Derbyshire countryside, Mount Pleasant is a modern purpose-built care home providing residential and specialist dementia care for up to 50 elderly people.
