‘Wrong Trousers Day’ at Rendlesham

Residents at Rendlesham Care Home in Suffolk were concerned recently at some rather odd behaviour by members of staff.

On Friday 29th June the Home Manager’s attention was drawn to the fact that they were all wearing very strange trousers. Everything from Union Jack leggings to clown shorts with a bared behind were on show. They needn’t have worried however as it turned out that the staff were supporting the ‘Wrong Trousers Day’ in aid of Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation.

Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation is a children’s health charity raising funds to improve the quality of life for sick kids in children’s hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. The Foundation funds projects that will ensure that whilst in hospital and hospice care, children can still play, socialise and recuperate from treatment in a child friendly environment.

Along with the unusual attire, the home’s chef baked a fantastic cake and some giant trousers made by the home were erected in the entrance hall as shown in the picture with two of the residents, Sybil and Joan. The day raised £20 for the foundation and provided a fantastic day’s entertainment for all involved.

Located by Rendlesham Forest on the outskirts of the village, Rendlesham Care Centre is one of Caring Homes’ newest care homes in Suffolk, offering state of the art residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 60 elderly people.

Rendlesham Care Centre in Suffolk comprises three self-contained communities in one location, retaining a real sense of smaller scale homely living with the added benefit of easy adaptation to meet residents’ changing care needs. A real highlight of the home is its ‘Forget Me Not’ garden, specially designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment for elderly residents living with a form of dementia.
