West Kent MIND skiffle group join Kippingtons
29th July 2017
Kippington in Sevenoaks were happy to welcome the West Kent MIND skiffle group at the end of June, expanding the home’s wider connections with the outside community.West Kent MIND is a mental health charity, and their skiffle band helps to raise awareness by including both workers and service users in its impressive lineup of approximately one dozen musicians and singers. For a reasonable donation to the charity, they provided a very stimulating interactive session, handing out a variety of percussion instruments to Kippington’s own service users, and inviting all to play and sing along with a wide variety of nostalgic skiffle numbers and other popular hits.Music and playing instruments is ideal for our residents to help with self expression. It can help our residents to engage, ease stress and uplift moods, often when all else fails. Encouraging participants to tap, clap or use percussion instruments to play along with well-known songs or tunes is great for our residents and really brings the room to life.[gallery link="file" size="medium" ids="22613,22614,22615"]Kippington provides residential and nursing care in a beautiful converted Victorian building for up to 51 elderly people. If you would like to find out more about life at Kippington and the care we offer, or to request a meeting with our Home Manager, please contact us on 0808 223 5517 or kippington@caringhomes.org.
