Walstead Place commended in latest care quality report

There was an air of celebration at Walstead Place care home this week as the team celebrated receiving top marks in their latest unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Following a review of the inspection process in recent years, five areas of the care provided at the home were inspected including, staffing, safety and residents’ welfare.

Staff at the grand 19th Century former squire’s residence, which is located on Scaynes Hill Road and part of the family-owned Caring Homes Group, have achieved the highest possible levels of compliance having met the required standards in all of the above areas.
As part of the process, the CQC inspectors spoke to a number of residents residents and their relatives, with special mention made of the staff team as one resident said ‘I feel safe here, the staff have my best interest at heart, I trust all of them and I also have a keyworker I can talk to if I have any worries’. A relative spoken to supported this view, telling inspectors ‘my mother is very well cared for, I would not dream of her being anywhere else’.
Home Manager, Jacquie Ferguson explained some the secrets to the home’s success:

‘Good communication and being transparent is key. We listen to comments and complaints and make sure we learn from them so we can keep improving the service people receive at Walstead Place.

The Caring Homes group has a longstanding ethos of quality and I am so proud of my team for their effort in providing and maintaining a high standard of support for those who live here.’
Situated close to the village of Lindfield, Walstead Place is a 19th Century residence providing residential and nursing care for up to 41 elderly people. The home is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
