Walstead charity car wash raises £100
Armed with sponges and shammys, the activities team at Walstead Place put on a charity car wash this week as part of Diabetes Awareness Week.
Lyn Gilbert and Doreen Knight (pictured) used plenty of elbow grease as they washed more than ten cars belonging to residents’ relatives, friends and staff from the West Sussex home to raise around £100 in total. They did get a bit carried away, with the home’s ride-on mower even getting a once-over.
The event was held as part of the Caring Homes ‘Charitable Partnership’ initiative for 2013/14, whereby each of the 56 care homes across the group are working together to raise thousands of pounds for their two chosen charities, Parkinson’s UK and Diabetes UK.
Located just a mile from the village of Lindfield, Walstead Place provides residential and nursing care for up to 41 elderly ladies and gentlemen.
