Walk with Hawks pay a flying visit to Mill House

Residents at Mill House care home in Chipping Campden were treated to a ‘flying’ visit this this week when ‘Walks with Hawks’ visited our home with a few of their feathered friends.

This was an exciting activity for our residents as we have not had anything quite like this before here at our home. There was lots of excited and eager residents as well as members of the team, prior to their visit.

Clare brought a selection of her rescue birds including a Kestrel and a Barn Owl. Our residents thought all of the birds were “beautiful”, and particularly enjoyed the interaction with the birds as they were able to wear gloves for the birds to perch upon.

However, the most popular bird by far was a tiny burrowing owl named ‘The Mighty Thor’. This little bird was so full of personality despite his size and brought a lot of laughter to the room. He was a bit naughty as he ignored some of his commands and flew from resident to resident but they thought it was hilarious and they all wanted him to perch on them.

Clare was very passionate and knowledgeable about her birds and provided everyone with lots of interesting facts and everyone thoroughly enjoyed an informative and fun afternoon. Animal interaction is a very beneficial activity to our residents, and it is also very special to be able to get so close to such beautiful and majestic animals.

We are definitely looking forward to welcoming them back here to Mill House.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
