The Ukele man returns to Kippington

Kippington Care Home in Sevenoaks, enjoyed an afternoon of fun entertainment with the return of popular entertainer Rob T.

Rob is a very distinctive entertainer, with his trademark outfit of Trilby hat and colourful waistcoats. He plays the Ukulele with great skill and versatility whilst singing popular songs from George Formby, Abba and anything in between. He has a soft but easily heard voice which instills each song with his own unique style. From soft ballads to rock and roll, nothing it seems is beyond his skill.

Both Kippington residents and staff enjoy his uplifting performances and lightheartedness. He is immensely popular with many of the residents at Kippington, invoking plenty of smiles, laughter and appreciative applause. The residents enjoy singing along whilst clapping, waving their arms, and dancing as best as they can (most of Kippington’s receptive audience are wheelchair users, but that doesn’t stop them rocking!)

Rob had not even finished his act before being asked when he will be appearing again! Rob is already booked for several appearances in 2017!

Having entertainers like Rob T at Kippington is a great therapy for the residents, as singing can enhance well-being by stimulating the senses, increasing attentiveness and communication as they talk about their passed experiences. These regular music sessions provide an outlet to express themselves, as well as remember and participate in something that brings them joy. The music also helps the residents connect with each other, providing them with common ground which in turn can provide a sense of belonging.

Kippington provides residential and nursing care in a beautiful converted Victorian building for up to 51 elderly people.
