Tulliallan Nursery visit Forth Bay

The residents at Forth Bay nursing home in Kincardine on Forth, welcomed some of the children from Tulliallan Nursery this week.

The children are regular visitors with the dementia residents at Forth Bay, who get on very well with the residents as they interact with each other quite naturally. This week they played ten pin bowling and did some colouring and drawing with the residents, the children and residents both seemed to enjoy the experience of spending time together judging from the happy smiles and laughter as they played games together.

We find that when our residents spend time with the children they experience more positive interaction. They are able to feel a sense of pride, achievement, and success as they teach the children things they have learnt in their lifetime. The colouring is a perfect chance for them to show children how to colour, which colours work together, and discuss what they are drawing. It helps our residents feel valued as individuals. Children can bring a sense of vibrancy and fun into the home that no other activity or outing can bring.

But the residents at Forth Bay are not the only ones that experience benefits from the interaction. The children have a chance to build their social interaction and emotional skills, as well as building their self esteem as they interact with the residents and see the positive effect they have, not to mention all of the attention they get from the residents!

The children enjoyed refreshments and cake with the residents before they returned to their nursery. Thank you for coming, we can’t wait to see you again soon!
