Titanic anniversary day

The staff and residents of Winterbourne Care Centre in Salisbury held a commemorative event recently for the 100th anniversary of the famous sinking of RMS Titanic.

Many of the residents gathered in the large lounge to watch a special film on ‘Titanic – the untold stories’ which featured stories from some of the survivors and their relatives.
Joan Jones and Irene Sheen made a fantastic model of the ship and everyone enjoyed looking through replica memorabilia and newspapers from the era.

The day was rounded off with tea and cake, whilst the piano accompanied the singing of the hymn ‘Nearer My God to Thee’ allegedly the last song played by the musicians on board.

Located in the heart of the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury, Winterbourne Care Centre is one of Caring Homes’ finest new services. Winterbourne provides residential, specialist nursing and dementia care for up to 80 elderly ladies and gentlemen in a state of the art home.
