Therapy Ponies, puppies and all their fluffy goodness

Therapy Ponies Wilson and Flicker visited Marchglen Care Centre on the 13th February causing a buzz wherever they went. There was a fantastic turn out of relatives and children. Wilson and Flicker were not alone as the ponies were joined by some Pomeranians and a pair of fantastic Newfoundland’s that came along as well.

Every resident that was at the home on the day had individual visits with Elaine from Therapy Pony, with everyone having a cuddle and their excitement could be heard throughout the home. Marek’s (Home Manager) daughter Charlotte was also given an opportunity to have a shot on the ponies as well.

While we did have to say goodbye, they will be back. Even the relatives were looking to stow away on the van back with the fluffy family. It was a magnificent afternoon for our residents, relatives, family and friends.

Marchglen provides nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 36 people in four small homes within the grounds. Each home provides different types of care and support including physical disabilities, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in both young adults and elderly.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
