Tall Trees support Nutrition and Hydration Week

At Tall Trees care home in Chipping Norton, a traditional afternoon tea was enjoyed as part of Nutrition and Hydration Week for our residents, relatives and team.

Good nutrition and hydration are always a priority for our catering team here at our home but to introduce an element of fun during the week, they were asked to come up with not only a special afternoon tea, but a special evening meal and even even a cocktail, and they did not disappoint.

A delicious afternoon tea menu was prepared including choux pastry swans, cream horns, chocolate iced cupcakes, mini Chelsea buns and a selection of sandwiches. they looked and tasted delicious.

Thirsty Thursday saw our residents trying a selection of non-alcoholic cocktails including a Cranberry Sangria and Tequila Sunset which our residents really enjoyed the kitchen’s interpretation.

Finally on Friday, our chef produced a selection of fruit platters with some new and exotic fruits including three types of melon, dragon fruit, pomegranate, star fruit and mango. For some of our residents they have never tried these fruits before so they loved tasting the new flavours and they looked so colourful they were a feast for the eyes as well as for the senses.

They provided so popular, they may even become a regular part of our home’s varied menu.

Nutrition and Hydration Week aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally.
