Summer Olympics at Standon Hall
Posted on Monday 18th August
The residents of Standon Hall were bowled over this week as they took part in a variety of games for their very own ‘Standon Summer Olympics’.
The two-week event was made up of various activities including ten-pin bowling, table netball, long distance throwing and bouncing a shuttlecock on a racket.
The sporting extravaganza was rounded off with Standon Hall’s very own closing ceremony, where trophies and flowers were presented to the winners.
First place was awarded to Mary Cheadle, second to David Gilbert and third to Evelyn Lunn. Following the formal presentations everyone enjoyed a lovely afternoon drinking tea and eating cakes.
Standon Hall is a quite magnificent manor house, which has been sympathetically converted to provide residential care in the form of fine country living for up to 22 elderly ladies and gentlemen of distinction. Within the grounds of the Hall is The Beeches, purpose built home providing specialist dementia care for up to 21 elderly residents.
