St Patrick’s Day at Moorlands

At Moorlands Care Home with Nursing Home in Lightwater, we enjoyed a great St Patrick’s Day celebration at our home on Saturday 17th March.

It might not be a tradition we all follow in the South but as we love a party here at Moorlands, we decided to celebrate in true Irish style.

On the day, we were transported to Ireland’s green shore as the dining room was transformed into all things Irish.  Flags of green, white & orange draped the ceilings while shamrocks sprung up everywhere.

The odd leprechaun appeared and disappeared as we waited for our musical entertainment for the afternoon.

Unable to secure a booking from Daniel O’Donnell(!), we were entertained instead by the not so Irish Karen Frances, who nonetheless did Ireland proud, with a great repertoire of Irish melodies and moved us all to tears with her haunting rendition of ‘O Danny Boy’.

With a generous flow of Guinness, good music and good company it was a great day for all and we were delighted with the number of residents and relatives who joined us on this day.

At Moorlands we provide residential and nursing care for up to 40 elderly residents in a bright and homely environment.
