The Sound of Christmas Music at Coxhill Manor

Christmas celebrations officially began at Coxhill Manor in December with a visit from the Walton Leigh School Choir and what a beautiful way to start the festive period.

Walton Leigh is a special school based in Hersham, Surrey for students aged 11-19 years old with severe/profound and complex learning difficulties.

The choir was made up of 13 children aged between 11 and 16 and led by teacher Jo, and they kept us spellbound as they sang a selection of favourite Christmas songs, from Jingle Bells to Felice Navidad.

It was simply wonderful.

The children had been practicing since September. It was obvious how much hard work had gone into the concert and we could feel the children’s excitement as they showcased the result of all their efforts.  The concert was impeccably directed by Jo who ensured every child had the chance to sing solo.  The children loved every minute of their performance – as did we.

Jo is the granddaughter of resident Jean, and Jo’s parents Kim and Colin joined Jean and the rest of us in the conservatory as we enjoyed the delights of the choir. They should be so proud of their beautiful daughter who puts so much effort into transforming the lives of these young children and allowing us to experience their talents.

Jo said they all had a wonderful time and enjoy giving back to the community.

Resident Sheelagh was moved to tears throughout the performance and commented:
“They all deserve a medal. It has left me speechless. It’s the best thing we have ever had at Coxhill”.

Thank you Walton Leigh Choir – please come back soon!

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
