‘Round the World Tea Party’ at Miranda House

At Miranda House care home in Royal Wootton Bassett, our residents enjoyed a ‘Round the World’ Tea Party to celebrate Nutrition and Hydration Week, which aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally.

With lots of enthusiasm, our catering and hospitality team prepared a fabulous feast of different and very delicious foods from around the world.

Held in our new 1940’s themed lounge, our beautifully laid table looked great laden with a smorgasbord of tasty treats and also incorporated elements of a round the world trip, such as place mats picturing different locations which sparked off lots of animated conversation.

As we tasted and sampled the treats on offer, we discussed the country of origin, how it was made and what we all thought of it.

By unanimous decision, the selection of puddings were the clear favourites. After all, who does not love cake but the Italian main courses came a close second.

All in all the event was a great success. Everyone had an enjoyable time, were well fed and watered and as it proved so popular, we are already planning our next themed event.

Home Manager, Pat Sharp commented:

“This was a great and fun way to encourage our residents’ food and fluids intake whilst giving them something bright and tasty to look forward to.”

“We are very proud to support Nutrition and Hydration Week and I am really proud of the team who took this event as an opportunity to look at our way of working, our hospitality and offer something a little different, fun and interactive for our residents’ benefit and enjoyment.”

Ensuring every resident receives the best possible care is our top priority here at Miranda House and we understand the importance of good nutrition and hydration, recognising they are fundamental human needs. When people are ill, old or vulnerable, nutrition becomes even more important to us in managing their care and to ensure that they have the best chance of recovery and rehabilitation.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
