Rememberance month for Oaken Holt

The care team and residents at Oaken Holt care home with nursing have been preparing and celebrating November 11th for a couple of months.

This year we started in October, the residents enjoyed making knitted poppies, which had buttons sewn into the center. These were then sold in aid of the British Legion.

A group of residents went to the Soldiers of Oxford Museum, which is situated behind the Woodstock museum. At the heart of the Museum will always be the rich histories of the two County Regiments; The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and the Queens Own Oxfordshire Hussars in which Churchill served and was associated with for 64 years. This was especially special for one of our ladies who parachuted out of planes in World War II for one of these regiments. Apart from the two county regiments, Oxfordshire has been and still is heavily populated by Military and has been for centuries. The residents enjoyed a memorable afternoon, looking at how the troops of Oxfordshire had played a huge part in World War 1.

In November we had a baking session where we made poppy cupcakes to enjoy at our 40’s afternoon tea, where we were entertained by Andrew Francis, singer.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
