Ray Kear Visits Coppice Lea

The residents of Coppice Lea, Merstham, enjoyed a visit from Ray Kear this week.

It was Ray’s first visit to the home and he performed a Reminiscence session which lasted for an hour and took the residents back to their childhood. Ray jogged the residents memories by talking about the Milkman doing his rounds, the Coalman and also the ‘Rag and Bone’ man.

Ray managed to get the residents up on their feet dancing to all the old time music, ‘Roll out the barrel’, ‘Lambeth walk’ and many more songs like ‘Daisy Daisy’.

Half way through the session Ray did a quiz. It was a general knowledge quiz with questions relating back to the old days, many of the residents managed to answer the questions successfully, well done all!

The afternoon was rounded off with the song ‘I like a nice cup of tea’, at which point the tea trolley entered the lounge and everyone did indeed enjoy a nice cup of tea, complete with a slice of cake.

Ray was such a big hit with the residents and visitors that he will be returning to Coppice Lea.
