The staff and residents of Beechwood Park Care Home in Sauchie are celebrating this week as popular staff members Fiona Lancaster and Laura Muirhead scooped the ‘Meaningful Activity Award’ at the Scottish Care Awards this weekend.
Fiona and Laura, both Activities Coordinators at the purpose built home, were selected for their innovative approach to activity provision and the commitment they show to ensuring activities they provide are personalised towards the residents they work with.
They have been instrumental in the launch at the home of the new Caring Homes ‘Living’ programme. The new initiative is a structured activities programme based around a ‘five a day’ approach of providing activities that always meet either social, emotional, cognitive, sensory or physical needs as part of the holistic program of care delivered at the home.
Beechwood Park Care Manager, Margaret Choudry told us:
‘Fiona and Laura work so hard to offer all of our residents meaningful activities and we are all thrilled that they have been recognised in this way, it is a testament to their commitment and dedication to their roles.
They always have a smile and a kind word for staff and residents alike and they’re very popular amongst relatives and visitors to the home.’
Located on Main Street in New Sauchie, Beechwood Park is a modern, purpose-built home, providing specialist nursing and dementia care for up to 61 elderly people. The home is run by the family-owned Caring Homes Group, which was founded in 1994 by mother and son team, Helena and Paul Jeffery.
