Pottery Class fun at Mellish House

Here at Mellish House in Sudbury we like to keep busy fingers active and minds engaged in creative activities. Shaun Hall our visiting potter arrives with bags of clay and lots of fun ideas of items our residents can make.

This busy hour or so creating various items is good both for exercising stiff fingers and getting together in a friendly group, where everyone is helped to choose and make a clay creation which Shaun takes away to be fired.

Later the residents get the chance to paint them and after a final firing the items are returned to the delight of their creators. Below are some of the residents recent creations…

Mellish House Care Home is a purpose-built home providing residential care for up to 48 elderly residents living with a form of dementia.
