Poppy the PAT dog visits Hulcott

Hulcott Nursing Home in Aylesbury welcomed a furry friend this week.

The residents were excited to meet Poppy the PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog as she was taken around the home to meet the residents in the living areas and bedrooms if they were unable to come and meet her.

Poppy is adorable and already a much loved visitor at Hulcott, the residents await her visits. She is easy to please and likes nothing more than a warm welcome, a friendly stroke and a doggy treat.

Pets provide a comfort system and actually produce  a chemical chain reaction in the brain that helps to lower levels of stress-inducing hormones, and increase the production of the feel-good hormones. In fact, pets have been shown to reduce blood pressure and stress levels in humans and can actually help lower cholesterol, fight depression and help protect against heart conditions. All great reasons for a regular visit!

Hulcott Nursing Home provides the highest standards of specialist nursing and residential care for up to 38 elderly people.
