Phantom of Galsworthy House

Residents at Galsworthy House in Kingston upon Thames were invited to a themed event of Phantom of the Opera which was held in the dining room and a marquee on the patio.

The home was dressed in black, gold and red half mask bunting, and red roses were hung around the dining room. Phantom of the opera bunting was also draped across the front of the marquee with a red rose placed in a vase on every table. Members of the care team added to the dramatics by dressing in black and red and wearing masks which created a really lovely ambiance.

On the run up to the day some residents decorated their own masks which they wore, and masks were given to residents and guests as they arrived in the afternoon. Twelve ballroom dancers took to the floor, dancing in both areas, they also wore masks and some beautiful dresses and suits in keeping with the event. As the ballroom dancers finished some care team also took to the floor along with our resident Joyce who was a ballroom dancer for many years.

We were all treated to a cold buffet which was set up in the dining room which included sandwiches, filled croissants, mini quiches, fruit tartlets, and to top it off prossecco and wine was taken around to everyone for the full experience. We had two lovely heart shaped cakes decorated with red roses which were made by our voluntary worker Sue, they were delicious.

To end our wonderful afternoon, Sally a new resident, came along in a Phantom of the Opera outfit and sang the first song, Phantom of the Opera, Music of the Night and many more.

The residents enjoyed the evening so much that they are still talking about it now, a few weeks later!
