PAT dog visits Kippington

Kippington Nuring Home in Seven Oaks welcomed a new friend this week.

The residents were excited to meet Millie the PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog and her owner Annie, as she was taken round the home to meet the residents in the living areas and bedrooms if they were unable to come and meet them both.

Millie will be paying regular visits to the home, Pets provide a comfort system and actually produce  a chemical chain reaction in the brain that helps to lower levels of of stress-inducing hormones, and increase the production of the feel-good hormones. In fact, pets have been shown to reduce blood pressure and stress levels in humans and can actually help lower cholesterol, fight depression and help protect against heart conditions. All great reasons for a regular visitor!

As the residents engage with Millie stroking her and speaking with her in encourages caring which educes a feeling of being needed, and feeling close to her.

Kippington provides residential and nursing care in a beautiful converted Victorian building for up to 51 elderly people.
