Painting at Home of Compassion

We at the Home of Compassion nursing home in Thames Ditton are most fortunate to have a wealth of communal space at our disposal. Probably resulting in the conversion of a Grade II* listed building, large impressive rooms are dotted all over the site and offer our residents the space and privacy to get away from it all if they please.  Many residents are used to having a whole house at their disposal prior to coming to live with us, so the luxury of so many impressive communal rooms is something many homes are not lucky enough to have.

Within the building there are six lounges, eight dining rooms, two libraries, a cinema room, activities room and a hairdressers to boot.  So plenty of space to share with others.

The small library, placed within our Priory and Chapel wing, has recently been occupied by a busy resident who dug out her painting accessories to compile a deeply personal painting of her friend’s recently dear departed pet.  As soon as that particular project was completed, another seemed to start and folk from all over the home pop in at regular intervals to take a sneaky peek at whatever new artistic offering is being worked on.

Helping residents feel at home is a tricky task sometimes, and watching the changing subjects of artistry in our small library really cheers us up and gives the place a more lived in feel.

Home of Compassion is dedicated to providing the highest level of residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 71 elderly residents.

The luxurious care home is set in delightful surroundings in the heart of Thames Ditton, with beautiful views over the river. For more information about Home of Compassion and Caring Homes visit our website at
